What is Ashtanga Yoga?
Ashtanga is a Sanskrit term meaning “eight-limbs,” Asana- is on one part of the eight limbs. And the Ashtanga we commonly see is a style of asana. Ashtanga is the fixed flow of postures consisting of a series of poses executed in swift succession, combined with deep, controlled breathing. Connecting body and mind. Using Ujjayi breath and bandhas. By moving the body in and out of a variety of different poses and holding still in them, the entire body is recalibrated. We are using primary series. There are six levels of sequences or series in Ashtanga yoga Asana work to open the body’s physical planes and energy channels, removes toxins and impurities and strengthen our foundation. The eight-fold path of yoga as outlined by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras is an holistic guide of living ethically.
Why do I (Danielle) love Ashtanga?
I love Ashtanga it helps to calm my sometimes overactive mind I use as moving meditation. I was drawn to ashtanga as I like to be challenged with my Asana practice.
